GoogleTalk for Blackberry
GoogleTalk for Blackberry released yesterday. I downloaded it, and started to run it on my 8700r. Sweet! It looks just like the Blackberry IM client that RIM released a little while ago, except that it connects to the GoogleTalk servers, and (this is cool) it drops GoogleTalk conversations into my Blackberry inbox!

It just announced Google Talk for Blackberry in partnership with Google. (It apparently drops Google Talk chats right into the Blackberry Inbox.) [...]

“it drops GoogleTalk conversations into my Blackberry inbox” - I don’t understand? The audio files? Is it a native BB app? Or a MIDP app? This certainly piques my interest. Could you take a pic or elaborate more?

Nothing that sophisticated Josh. It’s just GTalk IM messages that it drops into the BBerry inbox. Gosh! If it did what you suggest that would be WAY cool.
Seems to be a native BBerry app too. Runs all the time in the background

Hi
I have a 8700g and when I try to use it, I get a message saying “Handheld does not have the required service books…..”
I visited http://www.blackberry.com/googletalk but couldnt find any thing that would help me to load the missing books!
Would appreciate any assistance in making gtalk work on my BB
Regards
Zalmi

Hey Zalmi - I’ve seen the problem you described on my Pearl. I am not sure what caused it however. Like you, I tried loading the books online, but couldn’t find what I needed. Shortly after, with no corrective action on my part, it just started working.

I dropped my 8700c Blackberry in a creek where it sat for an hour. When I found it and let it dry under a fan all night it revived and lasted another two months when it crashed. It now works periodically. It would be great to get it back to full functioning. Any ideas?
